AN emotional Trina Candaza broke her silence over claims of her ex-partner Carlo Aquino that he wasn’t given enough opportunity to see their daughter.
Candaza took exceptions to a recent interview where Aquino spoke out having been denied his rights to see their daughter Elona Mithi.
He said he last saw her in November of last year. “Sana mahiram ko naman, tutal naman nag-poprovide naman ako para sa kanilang dalawa,” he said in the interview.
In an interview with talent manager Ogie Diaz, Candaza answered Aquino point-by-point. Like Aquino, she said was also providing for their daughter’s needs.
It was untrue that he was the lone provider, said the 26-year-old mother.
“That’s not true Mama Ogs kasi I also pay half of our expenses so para sakin dalawa kaming nagpo-provide,” she said.
“Pwede naman niya sabihin na nagsusustento siya kay Mithi kasi totoo ‘yun pero para pero para sabihin niya sakin na binubuhay din niya ko parang nakaka offend sa part ko ‘yun Mama Ogs kasi nagtatrabaho ako,” she said.
“Naghahanap ako ng ways ng income para maprovide yung kulang dun sa binibigay niyang sustento,” she said.
She said that whatever Aquino shared as provision for their family, he could easily earn in a day if not hours. In her case, she had to put up multiple jobs to fill her part of the responsibility.
“I feel offended. Kasi I also work hard to provide,” she said.
Candaza explained the reason Aquino did not see his daughter often.
Breastfeeding mother
“Nagbibigay naman siya ng sustento, minsan pinupuntahan niya si Mithi or pinapasundo niya, ginagampanan naman niya pero he will only give the bare minimum, he will not extend efforts,” she said.
As to how often Aquino visits their child, Candaza said she cannot entirely recall because at that time, she and Mithi, who is just two years old, are both still adjusting.
“Hindi ko na mabilang Mama Ogs, kasi before sinusubukan namin mag adjust ni Mithi. Breastfeeding sakin si Mithi ng exclusively and hinihiram niya ng 3-4 days and pumapayag ako Mama Ogs kahit alam ko hahanapin ako nung bata sa gabi,” she said.
“Then binawasan ko kasi nga nakakawa naman kasi bakit bata ‘yung kailangan mag-adjust until yung ngayon nagbigay na ko ng terms ko ang rules ko na kapag kinukuha sakin si Mithi,” she added.
‘Feel free to come’
Candaza said that it was actually Aquino who seemingly does not walk an extra mile to see their daughter.
“Siguro ang gusto ko na lang sabihin is, kung gusto niya makipag-usap sakin privately, and i-address ‘yung mga issues namin sa co-parenting, I am open. Hindi ko pinagdadamot, it’s just that, hindi siya pumupunta,” she said.
She also revealed that it was Aquino who did not ask if he could visit them at the mother-and-daughter’s condo unit.
“Dati kasi nakakapunta siya sa condo Mama Ogs. Pumupunta siya pag gusto niya mag-visit. Ngayon hindi na, pwede naman siya magpunta sa condo,” she said.
Not seeing eye-to-eye
Aquino had said even his parents couldn’t see their grandchild anymore.
‘Yung grandparents ni Mithi kung gusto nila pumunta sa condo pwede silang pumunta pero kausapin nila ko kasi ako ‘yung nanay,” she said.
Because of all these things, Candaza set rules governing Aquino’s visitation rights to their daughter.
Aside from his break-up with Candaza, Aquino yet again caught headlines when photos of him and actress Charlie Dizon made rounds online. Not long after, he admitted that they were indeed dating.
‘Your girl? Or our child?’
“Gusto ko kapag kukunin si Mithi, si Mithi lang sana. Mamili siya kung kanino niya i-spend yung time niya, kung sa daughter niya o sa new girl niya or sa friends niya,” she said.
“Kasi I think Mithi doesn’t deserve na may kahati sa time since minsan lang naman niya makasama daddy niya,” she said.
Candaza said she didn’t like her daughter to be acquainted with any woman romantically linked with her father–unless she would soon become his wife.
“Saka siguro respect na lang din sakin Mama Ogs na wag mo na lang ipakilala si Mithi sa mga panibagong partner kasi ayoko ko rin i-instill sa utak ng anak ko, sa values niya na okay lang magpapapalit palit ng partner,” she said.
Second mother
“Kaya para sakin if ever man dumating yung panahon na ay papakasalan na siya siguro yun kailangan na namin magkita-kita hahayaan ko na sila mag-bonding kasi ‘yun na ‘yung tatayong pangalawang nanay ni Mithi,” she said.
Throughout the interview, Candaza refused to reveal the real reason for their break-up but several times in the past, she hinted at relationship problems. Which made some netizens to theorize that there was another woman.
Rumors about their break-up started circulating online in January last year. In April, Aquino finally admitted that indeed they had called it quits.
