What is blush blindness, and are you a victim of it?

ARE YOU blush blind? TikTok says you might be.

It’s not at all a new concept to see a new makeup trend circulating on social media applications like Instagram or Twitter, and another addition to the roster is figuring out whether or not you’re “blush blind.”

One example a lot of people are using is popular singer Sabrina Carpenter, who some have claimed online to be blush blind.

What does it mean, however, to be blush blind?

To put it simply, blush blindness is marked by placing an excessive amount of blush on one’s face; in other words, mala-Sassa Gurl ang atake.

Many people have since started taking a look back at their old photos, visibly cringing as they saw how blush blind they were during those times.

This isn’t by any means a new trend, either.

“Eyebrow blindness” also became a thing way back when, particularly when people were reminiscing about how their brows looked during the soap brow trend, or how they would do their brows back in the 2010s when thick, filled-in brows were all the rage.

This trend has gotten people to start asking: Exactly how much is too much when it comes to blush?

Reactions online

Despite people making jokes about how some people are putting on too much blush due to blush blindness, many have outwardly stated that they don’t care if they are.

It can also be noted that it’s hard to define what “too much blush is” given, for example, factors like one’s skin tone as well as the type of makeup look they’re going for.

Now, blush is the makeup product that girls can’t seem to leave their houses without. As stated in an interview with The New York Times by Laney Cromwell, chief executive of Saie: “On social media blush is the new accessory.”

It’s no surprise, then that blush is now all the rage; with thousands of different formulas, forms of packaging, and manners of being incorporated into one’s makeup look, they’re a quick and easy way to make your face brighter in a natural-looking way.

Others, thus, have simply stated that they don’t give a damn if they’re blush blind.

“If blush blindness is wrong, I don’t wanna be right,” is what many women on TikTok are posting to their accounts. What’s wrong, after all, with a little pop of color on your cheeks?

As per beauty content creator Toni Bravo, and as reported by The New York Times, blush blindness is highly subjective.

“I think it’s all just a taste thing,” she noted.

“I think some people are just not used to bright or bold blushes, especially on deeper skin tone,” she added.

At the end of the day, whether you’re wearing “too much” blush or none at all, what’s important is that you feel confident and pretty with how you look.

Ignore what others say. it’s not their face anyway, so just do you.
