‘We’re in a war:’ ‘Andor’ season 2 teaser trailer, poster unveiled

GEAR UP, “Star Wars” fans!

Actor Diego Luna is about to return to your screens, as he continues the journey of a thief-turned-rebel spy named Cassian Andor and how he becomes a key figure in the Rebel Alliance in the second season of the critically acclaimed series “Andor.”

Streaming platform Disney+ has unveiled the poster and teaser trailer for the forthcoming season, featuring Cassian engaging in a war against the Galactic Empire.

The one-minute and 35-second trailer showcases action-packed scenes between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, with Steve Earle’s “The Revolution Starts Now” playing in the background. It will see how characters, including Cassian, will be tested amid intense betrayals, sacrifices, and conflicting agendas.

“Andor” is part of the “Star Wars” franchise. The Emmy-nominated thriller happened five years before the events of the 2016 film “Rogue One,” a prequel to the 1977 “Star Wars” movie. “Andor” narrates how Cassian transforms from a thief into a rebel hero.

In a press statement, creator and executive producer Tony Gilroy shared that one of the exciting things about making “Andor” is the “scale of the story” and the various characters they meet, from ordinary people to imperial overlords, and passionate revolutionaries.

“They are real people making epic decisions, all of them staring down questions with terrifying consequences. Cassian’s journey is the soul and spine of our story, but it’s the choir that makes the show,” he said.

“I’m so excited for audiences to see where we go in Season 2,” he added.

The second and final season of “Andor” will premiere on April 23 on Disney+.

Cast, episodes

Luna will be joined by Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Denise Gough as Dedra Meero, Kyle Soller as Syril Karn, Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, Faye Marsay as Vel Sartha, Varada Sethu as Cinta Kaz, and Elizabeth Dulau as Kleya Marki.

Making his debut in the forthcoming season is Alan Tudyk, who will lend his voice to a droid character named K-2SO from “Rogue One.”

Ben Mendelsohn and Forest Whitaker will reprise their roles as Orson Krennic and Saw Gerrera, respectively, from the 2016 film.

“Andor” season 2 will have 12 episodes, divided into four chapters of three episodes each. Following its April 23 premiere, the series’ subsequent chapters will be available on Disney+ every week.
