IT’S BEEN a long time comin’ but something seems to be cooking for 2NE1!
South Korean media outlet OSEN reported on June 25 that the members of iconic K-pop girl group 2NE1 are set to meet Yang Hyun-suk, executive producer and chairman of YG Entertainment.
The disbanded group’s former company responded via Newsen, saying, “It is true that the executive producer and the members are scheduled to meet. Other than that, we have no further details to confirm at this time.”
In May, 2NE1 leader CL and Yang were reported to have met for dinner. YG Entertainment clarified that it was not an “official company meeting” and that they “cannot confirm further details at this time.”
The latest development had people—especially Blackjacks, the group’s fandom—reeling over a possible 2NE1 reunion and comeback project.
Composed of CL, Bom, Dara and Minzy, 2NE1 debuted in May 2009 and have released hit songs such as “Fire,” “I Don’t Care,” I Am The Best,” and “Come Back Home.”
Since the group’s disbandment in 2016, its members have ventured with their individual careers but have remained in touch with each other throughout the years.
In April 2022, all four members reunited to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, earning high praises from their fans and big brands such as Teen Vogue and Variety.
Last May 17, the girls had a photoshoot in commemoration of their 15th debut anniversary.
