UAAP: Cheerdance Competition takes spotlight on December 2

MARK your calendars and prepare to cheer your hearts out as the Cheerdance Competition, one of the most-anticipated events on the UAAP Season 86 calendar, takes centerstage on December 2, 2023, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Reigning champion National University Pep Squad will try to defend their title under their new head coach Gab Bajacan, as they’re up against seven other member-universities.

UAAP Special Events Committee head Gigi Kamus expressed excitement for the event, saying, “I believe we’re in for another exciting and eagerly anticipated competition.”

“I know our coaches are highly creative and innovative when it comes to their performances. Let’s see how our coaches will work their magic and captivate their respective communities,” she said.

The host of this year’s UAAP, University of the East Pep Squad, will open the competition before the NU Pep Squad takes the stage. 

The first half of the performers include the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, followed by the Adamson University Pep Squad.

Next up are the University of the Philippines Pep Squad, followed by the De La Salle University Animo Squad.

The competition will be wrapped up by last year’s runners-up, Far Eastern University Cheering Squad and third-placer University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe.

The sequence of performances was done through drawing of lots at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion, after the Coaches’ Meeting last Thursday.
