Timothée Chalamet’s ‘A Complete Unknown’ to stream on Disney+ starting March 27

“A COMPLETE UNKNOWN,” a biographical musical drama film that follows the journey of musical icon Bob Dylan, will be available on small screen via Disney+.

Disney+ announced that the 2024 movie, which earned eight nominations including Best Picture at the recently concluded 97th Oscars, will stream exclusively on its platform beginning March 27.

Directed by James Mangold, “A Complete Unknown” follows Dylan’s journey to change the course of American music and become one of the most iconic singer-songwriters in history.

Throughout his six-decade music career, Dylan has sold over 125 million records worldwide and penned hundreds of songs. In December 2020, Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) announced its acquisition of Dylan’s entire catalog of more than 600 songs, from the classic “Blowin’ In The Wind” to the 17-minute song “Murder Most Foul” in 2020.

Among his many iconic music releases was his fifth studio album, “Bringing It All Back Home,” featuring classic tracks “Mr. Tambourine Man,” “Subterranean Homesick Blues,” and “Maggie’s Farm.” Released in 1965, the album was notable for incorporating electric instrumentation that sparked controversy within the folk scene.

“A Complete Unknown” stars Timothée Chalamet as Dylan, Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, and Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie.

Written by Mangold and Jay Cocks, the film’s title took inspiration from the lyrics of Dylan’s 1965 single “Like a Rolling Stone.”

Best Actor for Chalamet

While the film fell short of winning an Oscars award, Chalamet bagged the Best Actor award from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, one of the major award shows in the Hollywood film industry, for his portrayal of Dylan.

At 29, Chalamet made history as the youngest artist to win the Best Actor award from the SAG Awards, dethroning Nicolas Cage who brought home the top acting recognition at 32 for his portrayal in “Leaving Las Vegas.”

Chalamet shared photos from the award show on Instagram, expressing his excitement and gratitude for receiving the award.

The Best Actor award is Chalamet’s first SAG win. Before this, he was nominated at the award show for his roles in the 2017 coming-of-age film “Call Me by Your Name” and the 2018 biographical drama film “Beautiful Boy.”
