CAN WE go back to how it was?
Fans from all over Asia were disappointed upon learning that Australian rapper, singer, and songwriter The Kid Laroi would be canceling his Asian tour for “The First Time”, named after his critically acclaimed debut studio album of the same name.
Featured on this album were stars like Central Cee, Future, Jung Kook of BTS, and Robert Glasper.
Originally, he announced that he would go to several countries in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Included in this was Manila, Philippines alongside Yokohama, Japan; Seoul, South Korea; Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Taipei, Taiwan.
He was initially scheduled to perform on November 5, 2024, at the New Frontier Theatre at 8:00 PM.
He has since posted a statement saying that he was going to cancel his Asia tour.
Statement release
In his statement, he wrote: “My fans are everything to me, and I’m always committed to delivering the best performance and experience at every show. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Asia tour.”
“This was not an easy choice, but I promise I’ll be back on the road soon,” he added.
“I can’t wait to perform and celebrate with all of you next time.”
Some fans showed confusion over the statement, asking for clarity regarding what exactly these “unforeseen circumstances” were. Others were also curious as to whether or not this would also affect the New Zealand and Australia leg of his tour, respectively.
Fans from other countries in Asia have also received emails confirming that the tour has been canceled despite them already having purchased tickets.
The Kid LAROI is known for songs like “NIGHTS LIKE THIS”, “GIRLS”, “Let Her Go”, and “WITHOUT YOU”. He has won a number of awards, such as Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year (“Stay” with Justin Bieber) at the APRA Awards, Best Artist and Best Pop Release (“Stay” with Justin Bieber) at the ARIA Music Awards, and Top Hot 100 and Top Streaming Song (“Stay” with Justin Bieber) at the Billboard Music Awards, alongside many others.
