Thailand is Miss Universe pageant’s next destination in 2025

by Joanna Deala

FROM North America, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) will bring the prestigious beauty competition to Southeast Asia for its upcoming 74th edition.

On Saturday, the organization released a video teaser for the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, revealing Thailand as the host country. The 73rd edition of the annual competition was held in Mexico last year.

In the clip, Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig, the first Danish woman to win the coveted crown, was seen taking a phone call and being told, “Victoria, the people decide. We are ready.”

It then showed the Earth and focused on Southeast Asia to highlight the map of Thailand.

“Unveiling the ultimate destination for the 74th Miss Universe competition, where kindness meets tradition and warm smiles welcome the word,” the MUO wrote on social media.

The Philippines was among the candidate countries to host the pageant’s 2025 edition, along with Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Spain, South Africa, and Nigeria.

Thailand last hosted the Miss Universe pageant in 2018, where Philippine bet Catriona Gray won the title. It was one of the pageant’s iconic editions, which many netizens still talk about every Miss Universe season.

The Philippines has four Miss Universe crowns courtesy of Gray, Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, Margie Moran in 1973, and Gloria Diaz in 1969.

Meanwhile, Thailand won the Miss Universe title twice: Apasra Hongsakula in 1965 and Porntip Nakhirunkanok in 1988.

Search for PH delegate continues

While the exact date of the Miss Universe 2025 pageant has yet to be announced, the Philippines continues the search for the next Miss Universe Philippines.

Several cities and provinces have named their representatives who will vie for the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2025 crown and succeed Miss Universe Asia Chelsea Manalo.

The Bulakenya beauty queen was named the first-ever Miss Universe Asia at the 73rd Miss Universe competition. She also won the Best National Costume award for her “Hiraya” ensemble.

The MUPH 2025 is expected to feature pageant veterans like Miss Earth Air 2023 Yllana Marie Aduana, who will represent Siniloan, Laguna.
