Thai beauty queen Anntonia Porsild to visit PH

ARE Filipinos going to witness a PorDee reunion this month? That’s what they have to find out once Miss Universe 2023 first runner-up Anntonia Porsild sets her foot on Philippine soil.

Miss Universe Thailand announced the Thai beauty queen is set to arrive in the country on Monday, January 29, at around 6:25 p.m.

The visit is for Porsild to “fulfill her duties in the Philippines,” it said.

Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) also announced Porsild’s trip to Manila and encouraged Filipinos to extend their warm welcome to the beauty queen.

It did not particularly mention what activities Porsild will be participating in when she arrives in the country, but beauty pageant enthusiasts, particularly fans of PorDee, have “exciting things” to look forward to.

PorDee is a combination of surnames of Porsild and Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Marquez Dee.

The iconic duo earned the portmanteau as many fans gushed over their close friendship that bloomed during the 72nd edition of the Miss Universe pageant.

Several fans are even shipping Porsild and Dee, but the latter clarified in an interview with ABS-CBN that they are just close friends.

In November 2023, the 28-year-old Filipina beauty queen said during her homecoming media conference that she and Porsild would attend each other’s crown turnovers.

Dee concluded her Miss Universe 2023 journey in the Top 10, marking the comeback of the Philippines in the semi-finals of the prestigious pageant. She also bagged four special awards: “Voice for Change” Gold winner for her autism awareness advocacy, Spirit of Carnival winner, Fan Vote winner, and Best National Costume award.

It was Nicaraguan bet Sheynnis Palacios who took home the most coveted Miss Universe crown.

Preparations for MUPH 2024

Earlier this month, the MUPH announced local coronation nights for its accredited partners across the country to choose their representatives in the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 competition.

Among those who will compete in the upcoming pageant is Miss International 2018 first runner-up Ahtisa Manalo who will represent Quezon Province.

MUPH has yet to announce the finals night for Miss Universe Philippines 2024, where Dee is set to crown her successor.
