FORMER TNT Tropang Giga MVP Mikey Williams will most likely be dropped from the Dubai-bound Strong Group Athletics (SGA) club after the guard failed to “honor his word.”
SGA team manager Jacob Lao told the media that the spitfire combo guard was expected to join the SGA team. However, since the start of workouts last weekend, the two-time PBA Finals MVP had been missing in action.

“We really don’t know what happened (why he suddenly backed out). Everything was in place, and we agreed to almost everything he wanted,” said Lao.
“At first, he agreed to the price. Then he asked for a specific time frame for his arrival,” explained the sports executive.
“However, he just didn’t show up at our practice when everybody was expecting him to, including former NBA stars and starters,” added Lao.
Meanwhile, head coach Charles Tiu revealed that he and the management chose Williams as the team’s primary ball-handler for the tournament even though he was a restricted free agent.
“It’s a shame because he’s actually one of the first guys I reached out to. He’s my number one choice to be the point guard of this team,” said Tiu, who handled the discussions with Williams.
Furthermore, the two parties’ initially pleasant accord quickly deteriorated, with the TNT guard no longer responding to SGA communications.
“Now, he is not even answering our calls. We have no choice but to look for other options,” said Lao. He will now rely on his backcourt, which includes Jordan Heading, Tony Ynot and JD Cagulangan.
The SGA roster currently comprises of Dwight Howard, Kevin Quiambao, Andre Roberson, Andray Blatche, Justine Baltazar, Francis Escandor, Justine Sanchez and Allen Liwag.
