JUSTIN de Dios, the youngest member of phenomenal P-pop quintet SB19, started the new year wearing a new hat on his head after it was revealed that he will be joining the cast of the youth-oriented series “Senior High.”
De Dios was seen in a teaser of “Senior High’s” forthcoming episode, portraying the role of the prom date of Gela Atayde’s character, Tanya.
The two stars appeared at the prom, wearing matching all-black outfits with eye masquerade masks.
De Dios shared a Polaroid photo of him with Atayde in their prom attire.
“Nice meeting you,” he wrote in the caption, along with a handshake emoji.
There are no further details yet about De Dios’ role as of writing.
With this acting venture, de Dios has successfully made his childhood dream a reality.
The SB19 member shared this in an interview with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA) in June 2021, which named the P-pop group its youth and Sentro Rizal ambassador in the same year.
“‘Di ba po ‘pag bata tinatanong, ‘Anong gusto mo ‘paglaki?’ ganyan, tapos sasabihin po, ‘doktor, teacher,’ ganyan. Ang sagot ko po, artista,” de Dios responded when asked about their dreams that pushed them to persevere.
“Kasi po parang bata pa lang ako mahilig na po ko talagang kung anu-ano ginagawa–mahiyain po ako, pero sa bahay po namin talagang nag-a-acting-acting ako,” he added.
The singer shared that he even imagined himself starring in a disaster or zombie film.
Meanwhile, hashtags “#JustindeDios” and “Actor Justin” trended on X (formerly Twitter) as SB19 fans, collectively known A’TIN, expressed how proud they are of de Dios and how excited they are for the new “Senior High” episode that will be released next week.
A fan also said that this could be de Dios’ stepping stone to a lead role.
SB19’s hit song “Bazinga” is also featured in “Senior High” as its lead soundtrack. It is part of the group’s 2021 extended play (EP) titled “Pagsibol.”
Premiered in August 2023, “Senior High” centers on the journey of Sky (played by Andrea Brillantes) in finding the truth behind the death of her twin sister Luna (also portrayed by Brillantes).
Luna’s death, which was ruled a suicide, causes a scandal at the prestigious Northford Senior High School. But Sky believes that her sibling did not take her own life.
Brillantes is joined by other young actors Kyle Echarri, Juan Karlos Labajo, Elijah Canlas, Zaijan Jaranilla, Xyriel Manabat, and Daniela Stranner.
The series is down to its last two weeks, which only means that Sky is getting closer to uncovering the truth behind Luna’s death.
