ASHBIN keeps sailing in every universe.
Viewers have seen Rabin Angeles falling for Ashtine Olviga in the popular teen romantic series “Ang Mutya ng Section E (AMNSE),” where they play the roles of Yuri Hanamichi and Jasper Jean “Jay-jay” Mariano, respectively.
Rabin’s heart beats again for Ashtine, this time, as they star in the music video of the viral song “Tibok” by Gen Z singer-songwriter Earl Agustin.
In the five-minute music video released on Wednesday, Rabin was captivated by Ashtine upon seeing her dancing gracefully at a club in her red velvet dress.
The next scenes showed how the relationship between the two progressed, from Rabin approaching Ashtine at the club to them riding a motorcycle and holding each other’s hands.
The music video also featured Gian Bernardino, vocalist of the young pop/alternative band Cup of Joe, as a disc jockey.
As of writing, the music video has garnered over 465,000 views on YouTube.
Released in June 2023, “Tibok” narrates how a person yearns for their feelings to be reciprocated.
In an interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Earl revealed that “Tibok” was inspired by a “ghosting experience” he had in the past. The Original Pinoy Music (OPM) singer shared that he had a crush back then, whom he talked to every day but they suddenly cut off contact without explanation.
“[I] thought of writing it as a song, para maibuhos lahat ng emotions and feelings I had at that time,” Earl narrated.
“Tibok” is one of the hit songs Gen Z internet users often hear on TikTok as background music of fan-edited videos, including the kilig moments of Ashtine and Rabin, also known as AshBin, in the hit “AMNSE” series.
The song is part of the soundtrack of the live adaptation series, based on the Wattpad book trilogy of the same name authored by Lara Flores, known by her pseudonym Eatmore2behappy.
“Tibok” debuted in the Billboard Philippines’ Hot 100 chart in March, taking the ninth spot.
The Ozamiz-born singer-songwriter recently made history in the local music industry by being the first Filipino artist to enter the Global Spotify Top 50 with “Tibok.”
According to Earl’s bio on Spotify, “Tibok” achieved the biggest single-day streaming peak in the history of Spotify Philippines with 1.797 million streams and became the first OPM song to surpass two million daily streams.
“Tibok” now has over 62 million streams on Spotify.
