PVL: Ivy Lacsina joins first practice with Nxled

THE NEWLY acquired Ivy Lacsina from the disbanded F2 Logistics Cargo Movers has already begun her new journey with the Nxled Chameleons, accompanied by their Japanese coach Taka Minowa.

Lacsina joined the young Nxled team’s first practice in preparation for the forthcoming 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season, which begins in February.

Nxled performed well in the previous PVL conference when compared to other novice squads in the league, and adding Lacsina to their roster would surely improve their chances.

Lacsina took time in a full video shown on the Nxled Chameleons’ Facebook page to answer a few questions regarding her transfer and her first day of practice.

The 6-foot-1 dynamic spiker explained why she chose Nxled over other teams, citing Minowa’s Japanese system as the main reason why she picked Nxled.

The former Cargo Mover standout stated that she used a similar approach when she played for National University in the UAAP, where she won a title in her final season, Season 84.

Coach Taka (Minowa) and nung NU pa po kasi kami is more on Japanese stvle kami,” Lacsina said.

“Kaya sabi ko parang maganda bumalik doon sa sistemang yun kasi naging successful po yun nung nasa NU kami,” she went on to add.

Lacsina confessed that she struggled to adjust due to her rusty play after their first training session. However, she thanked Minowa for assisting her with the system and during her training session with her new squad.

“Syempre nung first day talaga super hirap siya para sakin kasi maraming adjustments, masakit pa yung legs ko ganiyan pero sabi nga niya (Taka) nasa process daw kami,” Lacsina shared.

“Timing lang lahat ng mga gagawin kaya parang mas nagustuhan ko kasi gina-guide niya ako,” she went on to say.

Lacsina is extremely confident in her abilities. She would reinforce the Chameleons’ young crew, which was now led by Lycha Ebon, Jho Maraguinot, May Luna, and her pal Kamille Cal.

“Yung pinakamadadala ko sa Nxled is syempre kung papaano talaga ako maglaro and kung ano yung mga kaya kong gawin or ibigay sa team like ako kaya kong maglaro ng iba’t ibang pwesto,” Lacsina told reporters.

Despite this, she does not want to put too much pressure on herself and plans to take her transfer to her new team slowly. “Pero syempre one step at a time lang ako,” she went on to say.

The Premier Volleyball League will start a new season in February. Given Lacsina’s arrival to the Nxled team, it is conceivable that they will surprise more teams this season.
