PVL: Creamline looks to stay unbeaten against Foxies

THE SPOTLESS Creamline Cool Smashers plan to extend their winning streak when they meet the winless Farm Fresh Foxies at 4 p.m. today in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan City.

The Cool Smashers and the Petro Gazz Angels are equally on top of the standings at 3-0. Creamline faces the struggling Foxies this afternoon, hoping to claim the sole top slot.

Despite the absence of two significant players in Jia de Guzman and Ced Domingo, the Cool Smashers have shifted their focus to their current squad, which has consistently proven to be a serious title challenger.

Michele Gumabao, Tots Carlos and Jema Galanza, the team’s ever-reliable veterans, are expected to lead Creamline against a desperate Farm Fresh ready to dig out of the hole and earn its first win.

The Cool Smashers will bring fresh legs to the game against the Foxies, as they had the luxury of resting their starters after their second unit, led by Pau Soriano and Lorie Bernardo, stepped up in their 3-0 win over the Gerflor Defenders on Thursday in Antipolo City.

Meanwhile, Foxies’ Trisha Tubu blasted 24 points in their 21-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-21 loss against the Akari Chargers five days earlier. Tubu may need more support as they face a tough and deep squad in Creamline.

Despite a 0-4 record, Farm Fresh will surely be taken seriously by the reigning champion. Farm Fresh has proven to be a fighter, despite being a young team in the league.

“Usual ginagawa namin pinaghahandaan namin any team, kahit sino makalaban kailangan talaga paghandaan,” said Creamline coach Sherwin Menses of their game against the Foxies.

Chery Tiggo (2-1) and Gerflor (0-3) will begin the hefty three-game serving at 2 p.m., while Cignal (1-2) will be put to the test when they meet the giant-slaying Akari (3-1) at 6 p.m.
