PVL: Choco Mucho eyes seventh straight vs. F2

THE Choco Mucho Flying Titans attempt to keep their second seeding this evening at PhilSports Arena when they meet the struggling F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the continuation of the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

The Flying Titans are on a roll as the race to the tournament’s semifinals heats up.

Since losing their first game against the defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers, the squad has not lost a single game.

Choco Mucho is ranked second in the rankings, one spot behind the defending champions, with a 6-1 record. When they meet the struggling F2 Logistics this evening, they will try to extend their winning streak to seven games.

After giving up the first set in their previous match, the Flying Titans won convincingly over the Petro Gazz Angles, 18-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-16, forcing a tie for second place with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.

Choco Mucho overcame their sluggish start by altering their defense, giving them momentum to turn the tide. Thang Ponce led the charge on defense with 20 excellent digs and nine excellent receptions.

“Nag-adjust lang kami sa receive, ayun lang talaga ‘yung naging problema namin. Sabi ko [sakanila] nung first set, ang naging problema talaga ‘yung service receive,” Choco Mucho head coach Dante Alinsunurin stated.

“Importante tiyagain namin, gaganda rin ‘yung receive namin. Nagkataon talaga na nagtama yung floor defense namin, ‘yung blocking kaya nakuha ‘yung second,” he added.

Sisi Rondina, on the other hand, led the Flying Titans’ offensive with 17 points, 10 excellent receptions, and nine excellent digs. Kat Tolentino scored 13 points on 10 attacks, two aces, and one block, and Isa Molde chipped in 10 points.

The Petro Gazz Angels will begin the triple header against the Farm Fresh Foxies at 2:00 PM. The Foxies recently won their first tournament game since joining the league, defeating the Gerflor Defenders.

Following that, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, who have the same record as the Flying Titans, will look to maintain their shared second place when they meet the Cignal HD Spikers at 4:00 PM.
