FILIPINO EXO-Ls had a merry Christmas celebration with South Korean rapper Park Chanyeol of the popular K-pop boy group EXO, through a fan meet held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
The fun-filled event happened on Saturday, December 16, and just in time for the holidays, Pinoy fans took this opportunity to give their Christmas wishes to the K-pop idol.
Chanyeol has been active in 2023 with his December fan meet being his third show in the country this year.
The first time he visited Manila in 2023 was in May for the “Back to Back” fan concert with EXO-SC subunit member Sehun; and in October for the “fun meet” organized by local cosmetics brand Ever Bilena.
His latest fan meet was organized by local clothing brand Penshoppe, where he is the newest global ambassador.
In October, the EXO member also released a comforting solo single “Good Enough,” which he dedicates to those who are pursuing their dreams.
With his busy schedule, EXO-Ls wish nothing but good health for Chanyeol this Yuletide season.
“Christmas wish ko for Chanyeol [ay] good health, sana lagi kang kumakain ng masasarap, of course, healthy food!” 28-year-old Jefferson Balasbas told republicasia.
“Sana rin lagi kang masaya kasi lagi mo kaming pinapasaya,” he added.
For 25-year-old fan Niña Gimeno, health always comes first.
“Patuloy lang na gawin niya yung mga bagay na masaya siya [gawin] and always have fun,” she said.
Aside from good health, fans hope that the Korean star would have more solo projects.
“Sana magkaroon siya ng ng maraming solo projects—acting, more collabs,” said 27-year-old fan Rose Lyn Sabornido.
Mac Jelvin Perry Rom, 19, said, “I hope he fulfills his dreams and more production po.”
EXO has yet to reunite as Kai is serving in the military while their youngest Sehun will be commencing his military service on December 21.
While fans await the two members’ return, Trent Lanuza, 20, hopes that other EXO members will reunite.
“I was about to say reunion ng EXO, but I think Kai is in the military, but a reunion with the other members na present would be nice,” he said.
Sabornido shared this wish and said she hopes that the group would return to the music scene in 2024.
The Korean rapper had fans’ hearts fluttering when he opened his fan meet with a song performance of “Nothin.”
Fans also sent a few questions written in envelopes to their idol, which the idol answered during the “Keeping up with Chanyeol” segment.
He shared more about his preferences during the fun fast talk-style segment.
Chanyeol then hyped up EXO-Ls as he participated in several games during the fan meet, including a guessing challenge where he would determine which songs the dance moves flashed on the LED screen were choreographed to, while a different song was playing in the background.
The K-pop star delighted fans with more performances of “SSFW” and “Tomorrow.”
Three lucky EXO-Ls went home happy as they were gifted by Chanyeol with white shirts that he customized at the fan meet.
In return, fans surprised their idol with a rainbow ocean using their lightsticks.
The event capped off with Chanyeol serenading the Filipino crowd with his latest single, “Good Enough.”
In his ending ment, the K-pop idol said he hopes to have more opportunities to meet his Filipino fans next year.
