Pawfectly Good asks for responsible feeding of stray animals

THIS generation’s compassion and affection for stray animals is certainly unparalleled, reflecting a growing understanding and responsibility for our communities’ most vulnerable animals.

In recent years, there has been a noteworthy increase in the younger generation’s participation with stray animals. This compassion is essential because it promotes a more compassionate society in which all living things are appreciated and cared for.

Through efforts like rescue missions, adoption campaigns, and campaigning for better animal welfare regulations, young people are actively crafting a future in which stray animals receive the love and care they need.

For example, this generation allocated split funds to feed these stray animals. Sometimes you can see them walking around the streets, exchanging food with these creatures.

However, in a recent post that went viral on Facebook, a page named “Pawfectly Good” called out some netizens who are engaging in unethical actions such as feeding stray animals.

“We appreciate the “good intention” of this person who opened a can of sardines and poured it into a paper plate and served it to our fur babies waiting at their food spot and left the can on the floor although the trash bin is just a few steps away,” said on the post.

“Maybe she and her friend (according to a witness they are ladies) think our fur babies are so hungry already and pity them so they bought a can of sardines to feed them. We commend their kindness. But not their irresponsibility.”

Lolo Heart is an elderly cat that lives outside a popular fast food restaurant. According to the page, this was not the first time the same group of individuals fed a stray cat a can of sardines.

“We think it’s thoughtless why she has to feed them canned sardines when we already made several posts about it… Pleading and explaining why it is harmful to our furbabies (applies to other cats and dogs too). We had two fur babies who died from it already.”

They claimed that it is becoming increasingly concerning for them to witness stray animals being fed sardines, particularly when they are given a large amount of it, as it is detrimental to their health.

“A tiny size or if in small quantities might not cause any harm, but if you’ll give them a whole can, it would be bad for them,” said Pawfercrly Good on their post.

The volunteer page who gives services to stray animals said that they are open to have conversations with individuals who would want to know more about what prescribed brands of pet food can be given to them.

The group also reminded the netizens to be more responsible when feeding stray animals. Highlighting the idea that the needs of a stray animal is just the same as the needs of their pets at home.

Feeding them with inappropriate food and being irresponsible with their actions may only cause more harm than good. It would be more likely to consult experts before giving them anything.
