CURTAINS at the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) are about to roll up as the musical adaptation of the hit romance film “One More Chance” is set to premiere in less than three months.
PETA has finally unveiled on its social media pages the official poster and show dates of “One More Chance: The Musical,” which will run from April 12 to June 16, 2024. It will be staged at the PETA Theater Center.
“The musical we all NEED is finally here,” wrote the theater group in the caption.
“Star Cinema’s cult classic movie ‘One More Chance’ meets the country’s most sought-after nine-piece band, Ben&Ben!” it added.
The indie folk-pop band also shared the show’s official poster on social media.
“[H]ere we go!!!” said Ben&Ben in a Facebook post.
It was in October 2023 when PETA revealed that the 2007 blockbuster film, top-billed by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, would have a musical version that would feature Ben&Ben’s songs.
The musical was an “honor” and a “dream come true” for the nine-piece band, according to its post on X (formerly Twitter).
Details about ticket selling and prices have yet to be announced.
“One More Chance: The Musical” is PETA’s next musical after “Walang Aray” in 2023.
Several netizens expect that “One More Chance: The Musical” will make them feel the butterflies of love and the pain of heartbreak, considering the movie’s plot and the heartfelt songs of the nine-piece band.
The 2007 movie follows the story of college sweethearts Popoy (played by Cruz) and Basha (portrayed by Alonzo) who broke up after five years of dating. But as they try to move on with their lives, destiny keeps pulling them to the same direction.
The film was helmed by award-winning director Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Some netizens are also looking forward to the list of actors who will join in the show. As of writing, the cast of “One More Chance: The Musical” is under wraps.
