THE LONG wait is over! OPM singer-songwriter Mrld finally dropped her newest single “Sandali” on Friday, June 21.
The R&B and hip-hop track used to be an unreleased audio snippet posted by Mrld that became viral on TikTok and has garnered over 200,000 views on the app. Since the teaser, people have been asking when the “mrld unreleased song” would hit the music streaming platforms.
On May 23, the Cebuana hitmaker announced the release date of “Sandali” on her official X (formerly Twitter) account with a 12-second audio of the song.
O/C Records, Mrld’s record label that is also home to OPM stars like Kean Cipriano, Unique Salonga and Adie, said that an official lyrics visualizer of the song will premiere later at 7 p.m. Catch it here:
“Sandali,” a song that talks about two people wanting to spend more time with each other while being a low-key couple, succeeded the February 2024 release “Lihim,” a mellow song that dives into the feelings of excitement and anxiety that goes with having a crush.
The 19-year-old singer is one of the leading Filipina artists of this generation, with hits such as “An Art Gallery Could Never Be As Unique As You,” “Ligaya,” and “Ikaw Pa Rin.”
To date, Mrld is nearing 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify. She was also recognized as the Spotify 2023 RADAR Artist of the Year.
Mrld also proves to be a female powerhouse internationally. In 2022, she was featured on a Times Square billboard in New York City. In May, she performed as the Philippines’ representative at the CONNX: Off The Weekend Festival, the biggest music festival in Indonesia.
