FILIPINA singer-songwriter Moira Dela Torre changed her profile photo on her social media pages a few days ago, leaving her fans guessing if this move was a hint for a new song release.
They are not wrong, though.
Moira returned to the music scene with “San Ka Na,” an indie-folk pop track that speaks about the feeling of being left by someone they thought would always be by their side.
The 30-year-old Original Pinoy Music (OPM) singer, who is known for her heartbreaking ballad, dropped “San Ka Na” on Friday, along with a lyric video on YouTube which now has over 40,000 views.
She also updated her profile photo on her social media pages using the track’s cover art, featuring the singer sitting on the beach with her eyes closed.
Moira teamed up with Migz Haleco and Casey Lagos anew for her latest single. The OPM hitmaker wrote “San Ka Na,” while Haleco and Lagos produced the song.
The trio worked together for Moira’s 2023 song “EME,” which would be part of her forthcoming album.
The release of “San Ka Na” also signals the beginning of Moira’s “new era.”
Moira dropped a hint for her upcoming era through “San Ka Na’s” moving canvas on Spotify, featuring a blurry date of “11.09” or November 9.
It was on October 28 when Moira changed her profile photo on her social media accounts to a default one and removed all her posts on Instagram.
Many Facebook users speculated that this move could be a teaser to a new song, with some of them commenting their humorous guesses for the track’s title. Several of them suggested playful titles like “Anino,” “Free Data,” “Block,” and “Instagram user.”
Meanwhile, others expected the song to be another heartbreak anthem.
“Welcome back to the sad gurl era, Moi! We’ll support you. Magpapa-broken kami kahit wala naman kaming jowa/ex,” one netizen said.
“Gagawa ng kanta tas madadamay na naman kami,” another social media user jested.
While nothing has been revealed yet about what exactly will happen in the coming weeks, Moira’s clue only shows that she still has more in store for her fans.
