MICHELLE Dee became candid about her feelings regarding rejoining beauty pageants.
Dee took a lie detector test for Bea Alonzo’s vlog that was uploaded on her YouTube channel on Saturday, September 9.
They talked about her journey as a beauty queen and what else she wanted to achieve by joining again.
She was asked a question about, “If she is not Ms. Melanie’s daughter, will the netizens and pageant critics have gone easier for her?”
“No, especially for my first pageant, it really helped me stand out. Being tagged as the daughter of Melanie Marquez and the cousin of Winwin. Yes, it is a factor because they have a certain expectation because my mom won, but at the end of the day you’re a representative of the country.”
Dee joined her first pageant when she was 24 years old at Miss World Philippines 2019 and finished in the Top 12 at the international pageant in London.
Also, she stated during the interview that she didn’t believe it was too late for her to compete in pageants.
“Years before I joined Miss World, I already had that mindset that, okay I’m gonna join eventually, then I keep backing out year after year after year because I feel that I wasn’t ready”.
“I wanted to give myself justice because of the pressure that was on my shoulder being the daughter of Melanie Marquez. So I really had to take into account how prepared I felt personally in that phase of my life,” she added.
Later on, she entered Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and succeeded in winning the title, her second crown from a national pageant.
She aims to bring home the country’s fifth crown in the international competition in El Salvador on November 18.
Dee started her career as an actress and a model. She made acting her career because she discovered that it inspired her creativity.
