AMERICAN singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez will hold a concert in Manila next year.
Event organizer Live Nation announced on X that the multi-platinum alt-pop phenomenon will be bringing her “Portals” Tour to the World Trade Center on January 23, 2024.
The ticket presale is on October 18, from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Meanwhile, the general ticket selling is set for October 19 at 12 noon.
Further details about Martinez’s concert such as ticket prices and seat plan will be announced soon, the organizer said.
Released in March 2023, “Portals” marked Martinez’s comeback to the music industry, four years after she dropped her second studio album “K-12” in September 2019.
The third studio album is composed of 13 tracks, namely, “Death,” “Void,” “Tunnel Vision,” “Faerie Soirée,” “Light Shower,” “Spider Web,” “Leeches,” “Battle of the Larynx,” “The Contortionist,” “Moon Cycle,” “Nymphology,” “Evil,” and “Womb.”
“Death” and “Void” both debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in April.
“Portals” also introduced Martinez’s new persona as a pink, four-eyed creature with ears that resemble a moth’s wings.
Prior to the album’s release, the 28-year-old singer bid farewell to her alter ego “Cry Baby,” which was also the title of her debut studio album in 2015.
Martinez also dropped the deluxe edition of “Portals” in April 2023 to add three new songs titled “Powder,” “Pluto,” and “Milk of the Siren.”
Aside from Manila, Martinez will also perform in Japan on January 19 and in Singapore on January 25.
Martinez began her career in the music industry when she joined the third season of singing competition “The Voice.”
She auditioned with her own rendition of Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” which led her to become part of Adam Levine’s team. She finished in the Top 6.
Martinez continued her musical journey, releasing her single “Dollhouse” in 2014. It was then followed by the release of her four-track debut extended play (EP) “Dollhouse.”
One of the songs in the EP, “Carousel,” was featured in the popular horror anthology series “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”
Apart from her three studio albums, Martinez has also released four EPs, including “Pity Party,” “Cry Baby’s Extra Clutter,” and “After School.”
