FILIPINO-AMERICAN Manila Luzon has added a new feather to her cap when she was named Best Entertainment Host at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in Singapore.
The drag queen delivered the news in an Instagram post, as she shared a carousel of photos of her receiving the prestigious award.
Launched in 2018, the Asian Academy Creative Awards recognizes creative excellence across multiple platforms, including television and film, in the Asia Pacific region.
Manila Luzon was recognized because of her role as the host of the drag pageantry reality competition series “Drag Den Philippines.”
She bested Australia’s Marc Fennell, Hong Kong’s Jarvis Chow, India’s Krushna Abhishek, Indonesia’s Oka Antara, and Singapore’s Fiza O.
Upon receiving her golden trophy, the drag queen shouted, “Philippines!”
“Well, I guess I have to change my name from Manila Luzon to Manila Winzon!” she added, earning cheers and applause from the crowd.
She also expressed her gratitude to the drag queens of the first season of the reality television show: Aries Night, Barbie-Q, Lady Gagita, Maria Cristina, Naia, O-A, Pura Luka Vega, and Shewarma.
For Manila Luzon, these drag queens were the “stars of our show.”
“Thank you queens for making the risks to be on our show and to be the first drag queens to put yourselves and your artistry out there on Philippine TV for all of Asia and the world to watch,” she said.
As the host, she added that she was blessed to get “the front row seat to the best drag show in the world.”
In her Instagram caption, the “Drag Den Philippines” host also wrote that it was an honor for her to “represent the Philippines, the LGBTQ [and] Drag communities.”
“Salamat POSE!” she continued.
The first season of “Drag Den Philippines” premiered in 2022, with Naia being crowned as the show’s first winner.
Following the success of its first season, “Drag Den Philippines” has been renewed for a second season, with Manila Luzon reprising her role as the show’s host a.k.a the “Drag Lord.”
She will be joined again by Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves and content creator Sassa Gurl as the “Drag Dealer” and “Drag Runner” respectively.
The latest season is titled, “Drag Den Season 2: Retribution.”
A total of 10 contestants will compete in the second season to be the next “Drag Supreme,” succeeding Naia. The debut season only had eight contestants.
