Lisa rocks the internet with her comeback single “Rockstar”

THIS is not a hype, Lillies, because Lisa came back as a rockstar!

“Rockstar” was produced by Ryan Tedder and Sam Hommae while Lisa co-wrote the lyrics. In its official music video, directed by Henry Schofield, Lisa proudly showed her Thai culture by filming at the famous Yaowarat Road in Chinatown in Bangkok, Thailand, while wearing a modern streetwear look.

With its fierce lyrics and upbeat sound, complemented by the artist’s satisfying pop vocals, slick rap flow, and electrifying dance choreographed by Sean Bankhead, “Rockstar” paves the way for Lisa’s versatile talent as a solo artist.

The song is her first single under her established label, LLOUD, in partnership with RCA Records, and her third solo song after “Lalisa” and “Money” under YG Entertainment which entered the Top 10 of the Billboard Global 200. Furthermore, “Money” held the record as the longest-charting song by a solo female K-pop artist on the US Billboard Hot 100 and U.K. Singles Chart.

A week ago, Lisa posted a teaser photo on her Instagram account, dropping the release time and dates of “Rockstar.” Netizens noticed the artist’s tan skin, which gained various reactions. Some accused the artist of blackfishing, but many others pointed out that this comeback could mean that Lisa is embracing her unwhitewashed skin as a Southeast Asian.

Netizens on X (formerly Twitter) also expressed their support for the highly anticipated single of the artist:

On June 6, Lisa posted a teaser on her recently launched TikTok account which gained her 2M followers in just 2 hours and 18 minutes, setting a new Guinness World Record. Currently, the global artist has 10.4M followers.

Lalisa Manobal, a Thai-born artist best known as Lisa, is the main dancer, lead rapper, and supporting vocalist of the globally known K-pop girl group Blackpink.

Apart from her global career and achievements in music, Lisa is set to debut on-screen in season 3 of the hit HBO series “The White Lotus” and is currently filming in Thailand.

To top off her versatility as a global artist, Lisa is also known as a trendsetter in the global fashion industry for her remarkably unique style. She is currently the face of Bulgari.
