AWARD-WINNING theater singer and actress Lea Salonga will be immortalized as a Madame Tussauds wax figure!
Her wax figure is set to be revealed in the third quarter of 2024 as part of Madame Tussauds Singapore’s anticipated figure launches for its 10th anniversary celebration.
“We know a lot of people all over the world are excited to see Lea Salonga in wax. The whole Filipino community globally is beaming with pride, that’s why we know we had to reach out to her and make it happen here,” said Madame Tussauds Singapore.
Salonga also expressed her delight in a video posted online by Madame Tussauds Singapore, saying that it was an “absolute honor and privilege” to have her very own wax figure.
Forty-five remarkable years into her career, Salonga has earned a name for herself both as an international Broadway legend and a beloved Filipino artist.
She is best known as the singing voices of Disney characters Jasmine and Mulan, and for her roles in stage musicals “Miss Saigon,” where she played Kim, and “Les Miserables,” where she became the first Asian to act as Éponine.
The latest from her distinguished Broadway presence is her participation in the biographical all-Filipino musical “Here Lies Love” last year, where she was casted as Aurora Aquino, mother of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino.
Currently, other Filipino celebrities who have their wax figures displayed in Madame Tussauds are Miss Universe queens Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray, as well as former professional boxer Manny Pacquiao. Anne Curtis will also join the list as announced in December last year.
