Kylie Versoza’s shapewear line debuts men’s collection

BEAUTY queen and entrepreneur Kylie Versoza continues her mission to make people “feel good and confident” about their bodies through her shapewear brand SOLÀ. 

This time, the multi-hyphenate is not only catering to women but also to men with the latest addition to the Mercury Collection, her brand’s first-ever collection launched in February.

On July 31, Versoza introduced three new SOLÀ products that provide functionality, comfort, and support to a modern man’s body: the sculpting boxer shapewear, the sculpting short sleeve shapewear shirt, and the sculpting sleeveless shapewear shirt. 

These are available in black and slate, with sizes ranging from small to extra-large.

While the new items are mainly designed for a modern masculine body type, Versoza said they can still be worn by women.

“To me, modern masculinity means that you don’t have to be boxed into one type of stereotype,” Versoza told reporters. “In this time, you can be whoever you want to be, look how you want to be, dress the way you want to be, and hopefully, SOLÀ is a tool for you to express who you really are.”

In a separate interview with republicasia, designer Anneth Dela Calzada said that the idea behind the new products was to cater to more consumers, especially since they saw a demand for men’s shapewear.

“We really also want to expand in terms of gender, too, so we don’t only want to be boxed in just ladies since we are in retail, so it just makes sense that we also tap [into] men’s wear as well,” said Dela Calzada.

“The idea is to still have that compression that men also need,” she added.

However, creating these pieces was not a piece of cake for the SOLÀ team, especially since there weren’t many of them in the local market. This motivated them to do a lot of market research, technology studies, and around six revisions to the design to figure out the right type of fit for their target market before launching the men’s shapewear collection to the public.

“This is definitely a big challenge for us since we are talking [about] technology here, and since we are just limited with the technology that we have here in the Philippines, we have partnered with [a] credible supplier that really helped us in the development process,” the designer shared.

With these new SOLÀ products, Dela Calzada said the brand hopes to make other genders “feel inclusive” and penetrate not only local but also international markets.


Features and benefits

Beyond its stylish and discreet designs, each item in the men’s shapewear collection offers unique benefits to its wearer.

The sculpting boxer shapewear shorts can aid muscle recovery with its high compression for tummy control and light compression on the thighs.

The sculpting short sleeve shapewear shirt has medium compression at the back to improve one’s posture, high compression for tummy control, and light compression on the shoulders for muscle recovery.

The sculpting sleeveless shapewear shirt has the same features as the sculpting short sleeve shapewear shirt—except that it offers a versatile sleeveless design and has no light compression on the shoulders.

These are made from high-quality and breathable materials, which make them ideal for everyday wear.

The men’s shapewear collection can now be pre-ordered through SOLÀ’s website and will be available on other e-commerce platforms starting August 13.
