Kris Aquino, Boy Abunda reunite in California

KRIS Aquino surprised netizens today by posting her photos with long-time talk show host and friend Boy Abunda, as he paid her a visit during his trip to the US.

The two were known as an iconic duo in Philippine showbiz but they have not been seen together since Aquino moved to the US to get further treatment for her autoimmune disease.

In her Instagram post, Aquino detailed how their reunion went, such as how Abunda freaked out because she needed an injection shot while they were talking.

She also discussed with him the treatments she’d been undergoing since last year. Their chat was filled with heartwarming moments and tears as the pair enjoyed the little time they had with one another.

“It was a heartwarming reunion,” she wrote.

Parang the whole 3 hours Boy was here[,] he was stopping himself from crying[,] pero bumigay din talaga siya.

She ended the post by greeting Abunda an advanced happy birthday on October 29, lovingly calling him the keeper of his secrets and the friend who’s helped her fight all her battles.

“To my brother, I love you completely.”

Celebs and netizens react

Only two hours after posting their IG photos, Aquino’s friends and fans showed an outpouring of love in the comments. The post gained over 64,000 likes and 800 comments and counting.

“Love this ate,” said actress and “It’s Showtime” host Anne Curtis-Smith.

“I love seeing you both,” shared actress and singer Kristina “KC” Concepcion.

“It was [an] honor to be able to share the stage together with the two of you for a moment in time in my career… praying for you.”

Other famous personalities like Bianca Gonzales, Chef Jacqueline Juarez Laudico, and John Mark Yap also showed their support for the two in the comments.

Many Filipinos were also happy to see the pair reunite and spend time with one another once more, no matter how short it may have been.

Grabe nakaka-miss kayong dalawa,” said a netizen.

Another shared: “Ito ang matagal kong hinintay. Salamat @boyabunda hindi mo pa rin kinakalimutan si @krisaquino. My prayers for your healing @krisaquino. God loves you. Mananatili akong sumusuporta.”

Silencing the naysayers

Many have assumed that the pair’s friendship had ended or weakened since there hadn’t been many posts of them together, but both have adamantly denied this.

In an interview on “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” Abunda said that they were still good friends.

Okay kami ni Kris,” he said. “The friendship is not perfect [pero] wala kaming problema.”

He added that while they were seeing each other less, and although they occasionally debated about certain things, little had changed with their bond with one another.

Filipinos can only hope that they will continue to post their moments together. We’re just overall glad that the rumors have been quelled once and for all.
