Kpop icon Seventeen drops ‘17 Is Right Here’ album

From Adore U to God of Music, Seventeen is finally right here! 

K-pop group Seventeen returned to the music scene after releasing their best-of album, 17 Is Right Here, and lead track Maestro MV yesterday, April 29, one month ahead of the group’s ninth anniversary.  

The two-CD compilation album has 33 tracks, paying tribute to some of the group’s best hits through the years, along with the Korean versions of eight previously released Japanese singles. 

Four new tracks are also included in the album. The title track, “Maestro,” talks about the emergence of AI, asking the public ‘who is the real maestro’ in the last part of its music video. 

Meanwhile, the three other songs feature Seventeen units, with the hip-hop team on “LALALI,” the vocal team on “Cheers to youth,” and the performance team on “Spell.” The music videos for these tracks are set to be released over the coming weeks. 

The album also sold over two million copies on the first day of its release, according to Korea’s Hanteo Chart.

Spotify collaboration

Aside from releasing a new album, the 13-member group has also teamed up with the global music streaming platform Spotify as they mark their ninth anniversary in the music industry. 

The collaboration will gift Seventeen fans, collectively known as CARATs, with an exclusive array of bonus content. 

Spotify will release the bonus content on its K-Pop ON! YouTube and video podcast channels, including SEVENTEEN’s ZIP Party, interview with a twist in Spot the Liar, and other challenges the members will take on. 

The global platform recently released a mesmerizing CGI video symbolic of the group’s new album rollout to kick off the collaboration campaign. 

Since joining Spotify in 2016, Seventeen has been tracking an average year-on-year streaming growth of over ninety-five percent. 

Spotify also revealed the five most streamed Seventeen tracks on the platform, including “Don’t Wanna Cry,” “HOT,” “Super,” “VERY NICE,” and “Rock with you.” 

Future activities

In a global press release, Seventeen announced they will hold a US tour in the fall. Complete tour details will be announced soon. 

Mingyu, the group’s rapper and visual, also revealed that aside from the ‘best album,’ the group will release another album in the second half of 2024. 

The group is set to perform at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in June and Lollapalooza Berlin in September. They will also hold their first-ever Japan stadium tour in Osaka on May 18 and 19. 

Composed of S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, Minghao, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino, Seventeen debuted in 2015 under PLEDIS Entertainment with the release of the single “Adore U.” 

The group recently performed at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan last January as part of the “Follow To” Asia Tour.
