‘Kilay is Life,’ but what can be considered good eyebrows?

EACH part of the human body, whether big or small, has important roles to play—like protecting a person from harmful substances.

That’s why they have eyebrows, too: to keep unwanted moisture like sweat out of their eyes and help them communicate with others by showing their facial expressions and emotions.

Eyebrows are also vital facial features that add flair to their appearance.

The “Kilay is Life” trend has been taking over the internet, encouraging individuals to have properly groomed eyebrows to elevate their looks. 

Achieving good eyebrows

There have been different eyebrow trends every year and among the must-try for 2024 are bushy brows, flat brows, and bleached brows.

But people don’t necessarily need to try all these trends to make their eyebrows look good and pull off an on-fleek look.

Professional makeup artist Chie Gonzales said one only needs “beautifully groomed eyebrows” to define their face shape and highlight their other facial features.

“Having beautifully groomed eyebrows helps accentuate the facial features,” Gonzales told republicasia. 

“I think [having] good eyebrows makes us look attractive,” she continued.

Identifying perfect eyebrows

The shape of one’s eyebrows should depend on their face shape as it will affect their appearance. One example is how flat eyebrows can make a person’s long face look shorter, said Gonzales.

“Our eyebrows frame our face,” the makeup artist stressed.

“If we have thin brows, it makes us look more mature or mataray. If a person has thick brows, it might be the only focus on the face of that person and might overpower [their] other facial features,” she further explained.

If there’s an eyebrow trend Gonzales recommends, it would be “natural or fuller less structured eyebrows” as it can make one “look younger.”

It may not be hard to achieve because some individuals already have natural eyebrows.

Gonzales advised that the best way to determine what type of brows flatters them the most is to visit a salon that specializes in eyebrow grooming.

“Always have groomed eyebrows. It is better to have your brows done by a professional so as not to overdo it,” Gonzales said.
