K-pop girl group 2NE1 now in Manila for their ‘Welcome Back’ concert tour

FILO Blackjacks, are you ready for the B-E-S-T? Because your favorite girl group is now in the country for the Manila leg of their “Welcome Back” concert tour!

In several clips circulating online, K-pop girl group 2NE1—composed of CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy—was seen arriving in the Philippines on Thursday night, November 14.

A clip shared by a netizen showed the phenomenal quartet being welcomed by some Filipino fans waiting for them at the airport. The members, meanwhile, were all smiles as they waved back to their fans.

Before this, CL posted a series of Instagram stories featuring her fellow 2NE1 members on their way to the Philippines, including a group selfie onboard the plane.

Sandara, on the other hand, said on X (formerly Twitter) that the girls were excited to try Filipino food. She also shared a photo of a meal from a popular local fast-food chain.

2NE1, considered one of the most popular and well-respected K-pop groups, is set to hold their two-day “Welcome Back” reunion concert on November 16 and 17 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

It was in July when South Korean label YG Entertainment confirmed that the second-generation girl group would return to the K-pop scene, with a world tour to commemorate their 15th anniversary.

About 2NE1

Formed by YG Entertainment, 2NE1 made its official debut in May 2009, dropping their first single “Fire” which became a hit on the Korean music charts.

They rose to prominence with their self-titled debut extended play (EP), containing their popular songs “Fire” and “I Don’t Care.” The group produced several chart-topping songs like “I Am the Best,” “Lonely,” and “Ugly.”

Throughout their music career, 2NE1 was able to bag numerous awards from different major music awards ceremonies like MAMA Awards and Melon Music Awards.

2NE1 disbanded in 2016, releasing their final single “Goodbye” the following year. A few years later, the girl group made a surprise reunion performance on the Coachella main stage in 2022.

Dara turns 40

Meanwhile, Sandara, dubbed “Pambansang Krung Krung” of the Philippines, celebrated her 40th birthday with her fellow 2NE1 members.

On X, she shared several photos from her birthday celebration, including 2NE1’s group selfie and a photo of a cake that read “Happy Daraday.”

Sandara was recently in the Philippines with South Korean actor Jung Il-woo to film for her “Dara Tour” vlog. The two Korean stars visited Bohol, where the iconic Chocolate Hills could be found.
