Is Olivia Rodrigo bringing ‘GUTS’ tour to Manila?

FILIPINO-AMERICAN singer Olivia Rodrigo has said that she was looking forward to visiting Manila, but does this mean she’ll be bringing her “GUTS” tour to the country?

This question was raised after The Hollywood Reporter asked the 20-year-old singer-songwriter about what she was “most excited or most curious about, as far as that level of a production” in connection with her upcoming “GUTS” world tour during its “Awards Chatter” podcast.

Rodrigo replied that she’s “so stoked” to perform in front of her fans, collectively known as “Livies.”

“I think it’s going to be so much fun to play those kinds of rock songs in an arena too. I’m so excited to feel that energy,” she said.

Rodrigo said she also couldn’t wait to visit other countries that she has never been to, and that includes the Philippines.

The “Vampire” singer has Filipino bloodline on her paternal side. She also shared in the same interview that she had a lot of Filipino friends growing up.

“I’m really excited to go to the Philippines — I’ve never been — so that’s going to be fun,” she said.

She continued, “And I love my band. I have an all-girl band, and they’re so wonderful and such great musicians. It’s going to be fun.”

This was not the first time Rodrigo shared her plans of visiting the country.

The singer told Rolling Stone in September that she wants to tour the Philippines, saying, “People there are so welcoming and hospitable and awesome.”

“Filipino people ride for other Filipino people,” she added.

She also told non-profit organization Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) in 2018 that it was in her bucket list to visit the Philippines and meet her Filipino family. She said that it was important for her to know about Filipino culture.

‘GUTS’ tour

Rodrigo announced her “GUTS” world tour in September, which will kick off on February 23, 2024 in Palm Springs, California. She will then tour North America and Europe.

There are no official dates yet for the Asian leg of the “GUTS” tour. With Rodrigo implying her intentions of visiting the country, Filipino Livies couldn’t help but anticipate a Manila show.

Rodrigo revealed that “more dates in many countries [are] yet to come.”

The tour is in support of Rodrigo’s sophomore album of the same name, which she dropped on September 8.
