FANS of Jennie from K-pop sensation BLACKPINK are getting more excited for her solo comeback to the music industry, as she left them a personal message on her website.
Odd Atelier, Jennie’s record label, shared a 12-second clip featuring a moving red sparkle, with the caption directing netizens to the K-pop idol’s website.
Upon opening the website, fans will be welcomed with Jennie’s name written in white font on a red background. Below her name is an “Enter” button, bringing internet users to a login page that will require them to create an account.
The “SOLO” singer’s six-second audio clip will then appear, greeting her fans on the portal.
“Hi Rubies! It’s Jennie. Stay tuned and see you soon. Love you, bye!” said Jennie, whose English name is Jennie Ruby Jane.
This elicited excitement from her fans, with many of them flocking to her website but it eventually crashed due to high traffic.
Meanwhile, some fans assumed that “Rubies” would be Jennie’s official fandom name as a solo artist.
However, some K-pop fans were quick to point out its similarity with singer and actress Kwon Eun-bi’s fandom name, “RUBI.”
South Korean media reported that Odd Atelier clarified that “Rubies” was not Jennie’s official fandom name but only a term the K-pop artist used to “address her fans in a news update.”
Jennie teased about her solo music when she inked a partnership with Columbia Records earlier this month.
Columbia Records is a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment, whose artists include Beyoncè, Adele, Cèline Dion, Halsey, and Harry Styles.
Jennie will release new music in October, marking her first solo single since “You & Me” in 2023.
In April 2024, she teamed up with South Korean rapper and record producer ZICO for the song “SPOT!”
Jennie was the first BLACKPINK member to have a solo project, releasing “SOLO” in 2018.
