RIOT Games Philippines joined forces with several PC cafes and collegiate esports organizations in the Philippines to celebrate the 2024 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT), giving Filipino gamers a chance of becoming a VALORANT champion in their communities.
VALORANT Champions is considered to be the biggest VALORANT tournament, which kicked off in February and continues in Seoul, South Korea until August 30.
With this collaboration, ten PC cafes will serve as VALORANT Community Hubs during the Championship 2024 season. This include:
From August 1 to 30, these PC cafes will host watch parties and pocket events, where gamers will have the opportunity to play, watch, and win limited edition VCT Supernova swags and exclusive digital codes.
Riot Games Philippines also collaborated with several university esports organizations to hold Champions 2024 watch parties and give out exclusive Supernova prizes. This includes:
Additionally, a CG truck will also be mobilized for a watch party in Cebu.
Jason Roberto, Riot Games Philippines’ brand manager for VALORANT, said they hope to offer players and esports fans more opportunities to experience and enjoy the VALORANT tournament.
“VCT Champions 2024 is more than an esport; it’s the culmination of a VALORANT year where both game and esports intersect,” Roberto said in a press statement. “This is why we decided to work with several partners to bring the fun and excitement closer to them.”
The gaming company also aimed to highlight Pinoy pop culture through a collaboration with several Filipino artists like Josh Cullen of P-pop powerhouse SB19, P-pop girl groups G22 and KAIA, singer-songwriter Zack Tabudlo, and rapper Al James.
This is to “ignite interest for VALORANT and Champions from adjacent subcultures and fandoms,” it said.
“With the rising popularity of P-pop in the country, we saw an opportunity to really amplify VALORANT’s cultural resonance for both players and fans of the esport,” said Roberto.
He added, “It’s all about uniting a diverse global community around a shared passion for quality competition and stylish gameplay that defies cultural expectations within and beyond the game.”
Champions 2024 launched its official anthem “SUPERPOWER,” featuring K-pop girl group KISS OF LIFE and Mark Tuan of K-pop boy group GOT7.
