Grab your tissues or handkerchief! Another tear-jerker Bela Padilla, JC Santos movie in ‘Wish You Were The One’

HAVE you watched 100 Tula Para Kay Stella, The Day After Valentines, Vodka, Beers and Regrets, and 366? If these films made you cry, then prepare your tissues again for another romance film starring actress Bela Padilla and actor JC Santos. 

Wish You Were The One premiered in Philippine theaters on August 23.

Directed by Roderick Cabrido, the romance-drama film centers on two strangers, Astrud Estrellado and Ellis Perry Sumilang, who meet at a wedding reception in Tagaytay. 

Astrud wants to see her ex-boyfriend at the wedding but cannot do so because she has no invitation. Luckily, Ellis enters the picture and helps Astrud, in exchange for acting as his girlfriend to make his ex-lover jealous.

Many netizens who have seen the movie couldn’t contain their emotions about it and said that the film made them emotional.

One X user even called Padilla “mapanakit” for her role as Astrud. The actress’ current name on X is Bela “mapanakit” Padilla.

The 32-year-old actress, on the other hand, expressed her gratitude to her fans for their never-ending support.

“[N]akakakilig guys. It’s very surreal to be ‘celebrating’ little wins alone. (wala pa naman akong ginagawa to celebrate tbh),” Padilla wrote on X. 

“Madalas, walang kausap, pero nararamdaman ko yung gusto niyong sabihin. Laging nakikinig, laging nagpapasalamat,” she added.
Wish You Were The One is the fifth movie that starred Padilla and Santos. They previously worked together in the Philippine adaptation of the South Korean hit Miracle in Cell No. 7, but they weren’t paired as a couple.
