Born on July 12, 1993, the Barangay Ginebra star point guard was named after his father’s favorite player from the Chicago Bulls – Scottie Pipen.
Thompson traces his American roots from his paternal great-grandfather.
He played college basketball at the University of Perpetual Help in the NCAA and became MVP in 2014, averaging 26.5 PPG and 10.0 RPG, while leading the Altas to the Final Four.
He was drafted by Ginebra in 2015, and worked his way to the starting five of the team, behind the guidance of fellow team mates, including the retired Fast and the Furious Tandem of former MVPs Mark Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbrand. He was also learning much from multi-finals MVP, L.A. Tenorio.
Thompson continued to gather accolades and awards such as the FInals MVP, Best PLayer of the Conference, Most Improved Player and of course, the MVP itself, dethroning 5-time MVP June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel Beer.
During the 47th Season of the PBA, Thompson averaged 12.27 points per game, six rebounds, and six assists per game.
