ACTRESS Gabbi Garcia revealed that she will play an unusual role in her new project with her boyfriend Khalil Ramos.
The 24-year-old actress shared this news in an interview with republicasia, during her contract signing as the newest ambassador of IAM Worldwide at the Marco Polo Hotel in Pasig on October 6.
Garcia said that the upcoming project with Ramos, whom she has been dating for six years now, will be distinct from the rest.
“I’m really excited about [it] ’cause it’s a completely different genre, completely different feel, and it’ll be shot somewhere abroad,” she said.
She expressed her excitement about working with Ramos again after over a year since their last series.
Details about the upcoming project are still under wraps, but Garcia revealed that the role she will be taking on is something she hasn’t done.
“Kahit ako eh, hindi ko rin akalain na gagawin ko siya,” shared the actress.
“I really didn’t think that this would come in my career, yung ganitong klaseng genre,” she added.
The last project that the real-life sweethearts worked on was the romance-mystery series “Love You Stranger” in June 2022. This was their first series together.
“Love You Stranger” tells the story of a production designer named LJ (portrayed by Garcia), who believes in the existence of a mysterious shadow creature called “Lilom.” Coincidentally, she gets to work with Ben (played by Ramos), a film director who is working on a movie titled “Lilom.”
As the two collaborate in the film, LJ and Ben do not just unravel the mystery surrounding the legend of “Lilom,” but also their past connection as childhood friends.
Garcia said that she and Ramos will work on the new project once they return from their short vacation.
The actress currently stars in GMA Network’s romantic-drama series “Unbreak My Heart,” with Jodi Sta. Maria, Richard Yap and Joshua Garcia.
A lot of people see Garcia as one of the successful Gen Z actresses, with many projects to her name. But for the actress, the real definition of success is simply to become “genuinely happy.”
“If growing up you feel like being successful is, ‘di ba yung sobrang sikat ka, pero at the end of the day, happy ka ba? So, for me, being successful is just really being genuinely happy,” she said.
For someone to attain genuine happiness, the actress said that they should know themselves better.
“The secret of success is just really being secure, being happy, genuinely happy, and knowing yourself better than anyone else so that no one can crash you,” she stressed.
Garcia shared that her parents’ words of wisdom helped her a lot in achieving her own success.
“One of the most important learnings that they taught me is ‘kung para sa’yo, para sa’yo.’ To believe in perfect timings and to just really trust everything in the Lord,” she said.
The actress also shared a piece of advice to individuals, especially the young ones, who want to establish their names in the entertainment industry: “Make sure you’re intentional.”
She explained that they should be certain about the career path they are taking and that it should be something they truly want to pursue.
“Make sure that you’re not doing this just because your mom told you [or] your friend told you so. It has to come from your heart because any job is not easy if you don’t like it,” said Garcia.
