Fall in love more with actor Kim Young-dae with these 5 K-dramas

Another South Korean actor will hold a fan meeting in the Philippines.

Events producer CDM Entertainment recently announced that Kim Young-dae will be visiting Manila to meet his Filipino fans for the first time.

“We heard you wishing upon a shooting star, so we’ll make it come true,” it said in an X post.

Titled FLY.oungdae Fall in Love Youngdae, the fan meeting will be held on October 21 at the New Frontier Theater.

Ticket prices range from P3,250 for Balcony to P9,950 for MVP. Tickets will be on sale beginning on September 9 via TicketNet.

Some Filipinos are probably familiar with the 27-year-old actor, especially since one of his dramas aired on local television.

Kim has shown several times how versatile he is as an actor, which can be proven by the roles he played in these notable Korean dramas:

Kim made many K-drama fans swoon over his character in the romance-fantasy drama Extraordinary You in 2019, where he starred along with actresses Kim Hye-yoon and Lee Na-eun and actors Rowoon, Lee Jae-wook, Jung Gun-joo and Lee Tae-ri.

In Extraordinary You, Kim played the role of Oh Nam-joo, the leader of the popular A3 in Seuli High School. He is a second-generation chaebol who has romantic feelings for his beautiful and kind-hearted schoolmate Joo-da (played by Lee).

What makes his character more interesting is that Nam-joo has no idea that he is the main male character in a comic book. Everything that is happening in the lives of Seuli High School students is done by the anonymous author of the comic book.

Kim got nominated for Best New Actor at the 2019 MBC Drama Awards for his role in Extraordinary You.

Comedy-mystery drama Cheat on Me If You Can follows the story of a married couple, divorce lawyer Han Woo-sung (played by actor Go Jun) and author Kang Yeo-joo (portrayed by actress Cho Yeo-jeong) who is known for her mystery novels.

Kim’s character, Cha Soo-ho, enters the lives of the married couple as he spies on Yeo-joo. Soo-ho is an agent of the National Intelligence Service who hides his identity as a part-time worker at a convenience store.

His performance as Soo-ho earned him the Netizen Award at the 2020 KBS Drama Awards.

Kim portrayed another character who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth in The Penthouse: War in Life.

The suspense-crime drama revolves around wealthy families residing in a luxury 100th floor penthouse called Hera Palace. Among its residents is the family of Joo Seok-hoon (played by Kim), a student at Cheong-ah Arts School. He is the son of successful businessman Joo Dan-tae.

The lives of the Hera Palace residents begin to shatter when a mysterious girl falls to her death at Hera Palace.

The top-rating K-drama aired on GMA Network in February 2022.

Kim won Best New Actor for his role as Seok-hoon at the 2021 SBS Drama Awards.

Kim sent millions of butterflies to the stomachs of K-drama fans for his role in the romantic comedy drama Sh**ting Stars.

This is Kim’s first lead role, where he starred opposite actress Lee Sung Kyung.

The actor showed his comic side in the 2022 drama, portraying Star Force Entertainment’s top actor, Gong Tae-sung, who is adored by many for his bright, angelic image but hides a bruised past.

He shares a love-hate relationship with his colleague Oh Han-byul (played by Lee), who works as the head of public relations for the agency.

The actor bagged the Best Acting Performance at the 2022 Asia Artist Awards for his portrayal of Gong Tae-sung.

Also in 2022, Kim got his second lead role in the historical drama The Forbidden Marriage.

Kim took on the role of King Lee Heon, who issued a marriage ban throughout Joseon after the death of his crown princess. Still grieving her death, Lee Heon encounters a scammer named So-rang (played by actress Park Ju-hyun), who pretends to be possessed by the spirit of the late crown princess.

Their team-up in The Forbidden Marriage was nominated for the Best Couple Award at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards. Kim took home the Excellence Award in the miniseries category.

In case you couldn’t get enough of Kim, here’s some good news for you!

Kim is among the cast of the forthcoming webtoon-based drama The Moon that Rises During the Day. Soompi reported that Kim will be playing the dual roles of a popular Korean celebrity named Han Jun Oh and an elite noble of the Silla Dynasty named Do Ha.
