Fade In: The Festival Begins, Sinepiyu 17

FEU Film Society calls for Student Film Entries

The screen comes to life, the lights dim, and the audience leans in— Sinepiyu 17 is officially rolling.

Sinepiyu enters its 17th year! The FEU Film Society, Far Eastern University Manila’s premier organization, raises its curtains this April for their annual film festival with the theme ‘Sinepiyu 17 Gimik: Isigaw ang Puso’. Sinepiyu creates a platform for student filmmakers to highlight social realities through storytelling while advocating for new beginnings and resisting historical revisionism. Additionally, it centers on relevant filmmaking that tackles national identity, human rights, gender equality and many more important issues to be raised.

The FEU Film Society launched Sinepiyu as an annual festival to promote films that sharpens Filipinos’ perspectives on inclusivity and cultural awareness through powerful storytelling of student filmmakers.

As a university-based and student-led film competition, the film festival features two (2) divisions to cater all the student filmmakers across the Philippines.

  • All Tamaraws (All Tams) Division – Exclusive to 4th-year Digital Cinema students of FEU.
  • Interschool Division – Open to Senior High School (SHS) and college student filmmakers nationwide, accepting submissions under Narrative, Documentary, and Experimental categories.

How to enter the Interschool Division?

  • Film must be produced not earlier than January 2024
  • Film runtime should be between five (5) to twenty-five (25) minutes including opening and closing billboards.
  • Mechanics and full registration details are posted on Sinepiyu’s official accounts,

Submission is extended up to April 10, 2025! I-go mo na yan!

Sinepiyu 17 will be a 4-day event from April 28-30 and May 9, 2025. The festival will hold virtual and physical film screenings, talkback sessions with the filmmakers and ending the event with awards night.

“Student filmmakers, it’s about time! Share your stories with us! Don’t let those films be stuck in a Google Drive—join Sinepiyu 17!” Says Angelo Copon, Sinepiyu 17’s festival director.
