Trigger warning: This article mentions underaged sexual assault.
MARCUS Adoro, guitarist of iconic Philippine rock band Eraserheads, will not be participating in the upcoming project of the group, as announced by their frontman Ely Buendia.
In his personal Instagram post, Buendia addressed the now-viral Reddit post accusing Adoro of rape, saying that they denounce all types of criminal activities and abuse.
“As proponents of justice, we unequivocally condemn all criminal acts and stand against abuse of any form. Above all, we see the truth,” Buendia said.
“As Marcus makes time to address the matter at hand, he will be stepping back from the upcoming project,” the post furthered.
Right now, the band is preparing for their concert titled, “ Eraserheads: Electric Fun Music Festival” which is set to happen on May 31. Other OPM artists, veterans and up and coming ones are expected to participate.
Closing his brief statement, the OPM legend said, “We move forward with humility and deep respect for the truth and social responsibility.”
Adoro, however, has yet issued a statement regarding the allegations.
Reddit post
Buendia’s announcement stemmed from the Reddit post of user NMomThrowaway12345, where she said that the sexual assault happened when she was in highschool.
“F*** this guy for telling me masuwerte ako na hindi niya na all-the-way dahil lang nagpupumiglas ako,” she said upon learning about the upcoming reunion of Eraserheads.
She lamented “how unfair it is that people can forgive and forget so easily.”
The user went on to mention Adoro’s abuse of his ex-partner Barbara Ruaro and his daughter, Syd Hartha. “He beat Barbara Ruaro. He abused his own child – going as far as telling Syd that she will be raped. He raped me and countless other women – tried to rape one acquaintance of mine, as well.”
In 2019, Ruaro and Syd revealed that they both suffered domestic abuse from Adoro.
