Enrique Gil returns to the big screen

THE long wait is over. 

Enrique Gil is finally returning to the big screen in the comedy picture “I Am Not Big Bird” produced by Black Sheep in collaboration with Anima Studios. 

The film, which will be shown soon, is directed by Victor Villanueva and written by Lilit Reyes. It will star Enrique, one of the country’s top heartthrobs, as well as Pepe Herrera, Nikko Natividad, and Red Ollero.

“I Am Not Big Bird” will not only mark Enrique’s big screen return, but will also be extremely special for him since it will be his first comedy project.

Enrique’s most recent movie was “Alone/Together,” a 2019 romantic drama film with Liza Soberano.

“I’ve always wanted to do a full-blown comedy. So, when they pitched that, sa title pa lang, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, genius. I need to do something like this,” Enrique said last July at his “New Movie Alert” press conference.

The film was supposed to be based on a true story about one of writer Lilit’s pals. Lilit said that he and his companion are continuously surrounded by women whenever they attend an event in Thailand.

This is because Lilit’s acquaintance has the appearance of a popular Asian porn star, and he used this as an opportunity to compose a raucous comic narrative. Enrique will portray the role of Luis Carpio in the film, bringing this funny narrative to life.

“Basically, Big Bird is a famous porn star in Thailand. My character, Luis Carpio, travels to Thailand and don siya pinagkamalan na si Big Bird, kasi parang identical twins na talaga sila. That’s where the adventure begins,” said Enrique.

The film will undoubtedly be intriguing because fans will be introduced to a new version of Enrique. He was said to be highly hands-on in making the idea a reality, from choosing his co-stars to fine-tuning his lines as the film’s producer.
