THE University of the Philippines Diliman continues its dominance in the country’s higher education landscape as it retained its top spot according to the March 2, 2025 EduRank report.
It has bested 229 universities in the country, while it was ranked 366th among the 5,830 universities across Asia.
Globally, UP Diliman placed 1,348 out of 14,131 universities.
EduRank uses a comprehensive methodology that evaluates the universities based on three key factors: research performance, non-academic prominence, and alumni impact.
Research performance is measured by the number of academic publications the university has produced.
Non-academic prominence considers the institution’s influence outside academia, including media coverage and online visibility.
Meanwhile, alumni impact assesses the achievements and global recognition of notable graduates.
UP Diliman ranked 1,468th in non-academic prominence and placed in the top 50% across 96 research disciplines. The university also boasts 89 notable alumni.
UP Diliman was followed by De La Salle University, which ranked 504th in Asia and 1,728th in the world, and Ateneo de Manila University, which placed 565th in Asia and 1,903rd globally, securing the second and third spots in the Philippines, respectively.
Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) ranked 834th in Asia and 2,628th in the world, while UP Los Baños placed 882nd in Asia and 2,774th globally, taking the fourth and fifth spots in the Philippines.
In 2024, UP Diliman was also the top university in the country.
