FILIPINA drag queen Marina Summers fell in the final Lip Sync battle of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World” Season 2, but was showered with praises, even being dubbed as “a global phenomenon.”
During the eight episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World” Season 2 that aired Saturday (Manila time), all of the 11 contestants came together as they fondly discussed their adventure throughout the season.
From the 11, Spain’s Arantxa Castilla-La Mancha was named as Miss Congeniality.
Marina impressed RuPaul as she presented her final look that was inspired by the biodiversity of the Philippines.
“You are so talented and on top of that there’s a sweetness and a kindness there. You got this, kiddo. You were born to this,” RuPaul said.
During the final lip-synch smackdown, a wheel was set to choose who will first compete in the Lip Sync battle, with more slots for the person. Marina was chosen and she chose Hannah Conda as her opponent and they got the song “I’m Outta Love” by Anastacia.
But Hannah won the battle, thus Marina’s journey in the “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World”season as a Top 4 finalist.
“Marina Summers, I’m sorry, my dear, but this is not your time. Thank you for an amazing season. You are and will always be a global phenomenon,” RuPaul said.
Marina, as a true Filipina, expressed her gratitude for the experience and on being on the show.
She said that with her performance, she hopes that she made her countrymen proud.
“Ru, thank you so much for inviting this little Filipina on your big show. I am forever grateful and my lines are open for another call. But, honestly, I know I made a lot of Filipinos across the globe proud and thank you for giving me this opportunity. I’ll always and forever be your Filipino winner,” she said.
“I’m so proud of Hannah and I am walking out as an international glamazon with international sisters that for me is a win already,” she added.
La Grande Dame of France and and Tia Kofi from the UK performed came next and “Boogie 2Nite” by Booty Luv.
In the finals Tia Koffi battled Hannah Conda to “Your Disco Needs You” by Kylie Minogue.
Tia Kofi won the second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World ” as she succeeded Blu Hydrangea, also from the UK franchise.
Marina had already made history as she is the first drag queen from the Philippine franchise to compete in an international edition of the hit reality competition.
She became the runner-up to Precious Paula Nicole during the “Drag Race Philippines” Season 1 aired in 2022.
