IT has been four years since Cup of Joe entered the local music scene, and it seems that the band is now ready to level up its music career.
The rising OPM group from Baguio — composed of Gian Bernardino, Raphaell Ridao, Gabriel Fernandez, CJ Fernandez, Raphael Severino and Xen Gareza — is set to hold its first concert next year, based on the announcement of Viva Live, Inc. on Facebook.
The musical event will take place at the New Frontier Theater on February 9, 2024.
There are no additional details yet about the concert such as ticket prices and the seat plan, but Viva said that tickets will be available beginning on December 15 via TicketNet.
This announcement follows the release of the young pop-alternative band’s first extended play “Patutunguhan,’ which it hoped to serve as a “light” to its fans during their dark times.
Released in June 2023, “Patutunguhan” is a six-track album which is a combination of the band’s new and old songs. The new ones are “Tingin,” “Patutunguhan,” and “Wag Na lang,” while the old songs are “Tataya,” “Estranghero,” and “Mananatili.”
“Tingin” is a collaboration song between Cup of Joe and singer-songwriter Janine Teñoso. The romantic upbeat song highlights a person’s admiration for another individual.
The music video for “Tingin” was released in October, featuring Teñoso, Bernardino and Ridao.
This year saw the Cup of Joe achieving many firsts in its music career.
Aside from the release of their first EP, the six-member group also held its first intimate fan gathering with their fandom, known as Joewahs, in September in Quezon City.
Cup of Joe also became the most streamed Filipino music group on Spotify Philippines for the first time.
And for these achievements, the members are grateful to their loved ones and fans for supporting them in their musical endeavors.
“From jamming in our school to topping charts – overwhelmed and grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it!” the group said in a Facebook post.
“While we understand that our music and identity as artists shouldn’t be solely defined by numbers, we want to express our gratitude for achieving these unexpected milestones,” it added.
The members assured that it won’t stop reaching greater heights as they will create more music in the future.
“More songs, more memories, and more moments with you. Let’s keep this music journey going!” they said.
Cup of Joe has been performing in different parts of the country, with their latest show on December 10 at Ateneo de Zamboanga for Sinti Music Fest 2023. The group said that this was their first-ever gig in Mindanao.
