Confusion arise amid Katy Perry’s AI generated photos at Met Gala 2024

THESE AI-generated Met Gala celebrity photos continue to make a fool out of people.

It’s that time of the year again for the Met Gala—a fundraiser event that brings some of the biggest name in the most prominent industry to be known by most people.

On the first monday of May, celebrities travel to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Costume Institute in New York City to showcase months-long creations in collaboration with distinguished designers and brands.

The Met Gala has their own yearly theme and as for this years theme it’s the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Institution,” with the guest following the official dresscode “The Garden of Time.”

There are about 250 rare items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection that is feature in the exhibit—spanning over 400 history of fashion including designs by Dior, Schiaparelli, Givenchy, and more.

Meanwhile, some fragile clothing such as 1877 Charles Fredrick Worth ball gown will also be displayed on video animation, light projection, AI, and CGI.

There is no denying that the use of visual stimulation is part of the future, however, the use of it can also come as shock to a lot of people especially when they can no longer distinguish the difference of Artificial Generated imagery to a real one.

The Ultra-realistic deepfake

It is known that one of the most anticipated guest to attended the Met Gala is none other than American singer Katy Perry and due to her previous chandelier and hamburger fits on the event, some people are expecting on what she had come to prepare for this year’s Met Gala.

Image of Katy Perry wearing floral gown at the Met Gala later spread around X (formerly Twitter), amassing more than 11 million views. However, the photo was later confirmed to be generated by the artificial intelligence with the background being taken from 2018.

This is later confirmed by Katy Perry herself on her official Instagram account after making a post.

“Couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work.” She work on the caption.

Her post also include a screenshot of her mother’s message being followed by the AI generated image.

Meanwhile, it wasn’t just Katy Perry’s image that went viral as more AI generated celebrity images resurfaced on X.
