Celebrities and their devotion to the Jesus Nazarene

FOR millions of Filipinos, Jesus Nazarene became the source of their unwavering faith and due to this, they came to devote their lives honoring Jesus Nazarene. 

Last January 9, the country had yet again honor the Feast of Jesus Nazarene and upon pushing through the procession–millions of Filipino devotees swarms the streets of Manila as they came to commemorate the transferring of Jesus Nazarene’s image from Intramuros to its current home in Quiapo. 

While Traslacion is considered as the well-known activity that happens during the Feast of Jesus Nazarene, the pahalik and masses are also a custom when commemorating the said event. 

Various celebrities personalities also came forward and shared their devotion and personal faith–relating on how their devotion came to shape their lives and career. 

Coco Martin

Growing up, Coco would come to visit Quiapo Church with his grandmother and even if he’s now one of the well-known actors in the country, Coco Martin still goes to Quiapo church and devotes his faith to the Jesus Nazarene. 

Angeline Quinto

At only eight years old, Angeline Quinto became a devotee of the Jesus Nazareno. 

The actress came to share how her devotion to Jesus Nazareno helped her fulfill her dream of having a singing career when she won ABS-CBN’s Star Power. 

On April 25, 2024, Angeline Quinto and Nonrev Daquina chose to tie the knot at the Quiapo Church. 

Noli De Castro

During his college years when he and his family moved to Arlegui Street in Quiapo near the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, Noli’s devotion began.  

Having to live near the church–the veteran TV Patrol news anchor would join the annual procession, making it a habit for him to stop by Quiapo church to pray on his way home from work. 

McCoy de Leon 

Every year, actor McCoy de Leon would join the annual Feast of Jesus Nazareno and has become a yearly tradition for the actor.

On January 9, the actor posted on Instagram–sharing his devotion and thanking Jesus Nazareno.

“Muli ako’y nagpapasalamat sayo,” he wrote on the caption.
