BTS’ V poses shirtless for a new photobook

V of K-pop powerhouse BTS has a gift to his fans in time for ARMY Day.

On Tuesday, the official account of BTS on X (formerly Twitter) dropped a black-and-white poster of V, where he could be seen shirtless while leaning on a wall.

The poster had the lyrics of V’s 2019 song “Scenery” that goes: “I still wonder, wonder beautiful story / Still wonder, wonder best part  I still wander, wander next story / I want to make you mine.”

It also bore the artist’s real name Kim Taehyung and the title “Type 1.”

The teaser had the fans, collectively known as ARMY, wonder what V’s upcoming project was all about. Some of them guessed that it could be a photobook, while others believed it would be a new song.

But on Wednesday, June 26, BIGHIT MUSIC, the boy group’s label, confirmed that “Type 1” would be a photobook, including a cover, envelope, postcard, bookmark, photo sticker, and cutting sticker.

The 224-page photobook would feature V’s “comfortable and natural self as he takes a break from his busy schedule to enjoy some time alone.”

The label said V had participated in producing his photobook, from selecting the travel destination to deciding the title and components of his new project.

It would also have a magazine version but some chapters in the “Type 1” photobook would not be included in it.

The pre-order for “Type 1” would start on June 27. Its official release would be on July 9, coinciding with the celebration of ARMY Day or the anniversary of when the boy group’s fanbase was named “ARMY.”

The announcement of V’s photobook followed the release of his latest single “FRI(END)S” in March 2024. The soulful song, which talks about catching feelings for a friend, entered Billboard’s Hot 100 chart a few days after its release.

In January 2024, V collaborated with South Korean singer-actress IU for the music video for her song “Love Wins All.”

The music video was filmed before the BTS vocalist enlisted in the military in December 2023. It was also during this period when V joined forces with American singer-songwriter Umi for the song “Wherever U R.”

V launched his inaugural solo venture with his album “Layover” last year, featuring the tracks “Rainy Days,” “Blue,” “Love Me Again,” “Slow Dancing,” “For Us,” and “Slow Dancing (Piano ver.).”

Military service

Currently, V and his co-BTS members RM, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, and Jung Kook are serving their mandatory military service.

Jin, the oldest member of the group, was discharged from the military in Yeoncheon, South Korea on June 12. He was welcomed by his bandmates RM, J-Hope, Jung Kook, V, and Jimin.

He spearheaded the celebration of BTS’ 11 anniversary through the 2024 BTS Festa at Jamsil Sports Complex in Seoul, South Korea, where he hugged 1,000 lucky fans.

BTS also posed for a group selfie as a gift to ARMY.

The septet is expected to resume its group activities in 2025 after completing its military service.
