JENNIE of K-pop sensation BLACKPINK amped up the excitement of her fans for her upcoming solo comeback in March!
The 29-year-old K-pop star thrilled BLINKs on Wednesday, January 22, when she dropped a teaser for her first-ever studio album, “Ruby.”
In the 33-second clip posted on her official YouTube channel, Jennie sizzled in long fiery red hair with full bangs.
“Ruby” will feature Jennie’s song collaborations with other international artists like Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, FKJ, Kali Uchis, and Dua Lipa.
Towards the end of the teaser, Jennie could be heard singing, “Money can’t buy no real friends.”
The teaser also showcased Jennie’s different hairstyles, including a bob cut and long black hair.
According to ODDATELIER Entertainment, Jennie’s label, “Ruby” will consist of 15 songs, including her October 2024 single “Mantra.”
“Ruby” will be released on March 7, 2025.
Earlier in January, Jennie had an interview with Billboard where she shared her creative process on her debut album, which she began working on in early 2024.
The idea of releasing a solo album came to Jennie during the last leg of BLACKPINK’s world tour in 2023. The four-member South Korean girl group—composed of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosè—held its “Born Pink” World Tour from 2022 to 2023, which concluded in Seoul, South Korea.
“I listed out the things that I want in my life and started pinpointing, or prioritizing, what’s my very next step,” shared Jennie. “And instantly, I was like, ‘I still haven’t accomplished the dream of releasing a solo album.’ I wanted to satisfy myself by achieving that goal.”
Jennie said she recorded most songs in her forthcoming album in Los Angeles, California.
She also shared her goal for her solo album: to “complete myself as Jennie Ruby Jane.”
“You’ll definitely know what I mean once the album drops, but because I’m playing with a lot of different genres and elements—I’m rapping here, I’m singing here, I’m harmonizing here, I’m talking here… The overall sound was me making sure I like every single [song],” Jennie told Billboard.
She continued, “I didn’t want to be forced into putting a song onto my album—that’s what I really fought for.”
Aside from her debut solo album, Jennie will also perform at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California in April. She will hit the stage with fellow BLACKPINK member Lisa and K-pop boy group ENHYPEN.
Meanwhile, Jennie holds the top spot in the Philippines trends list on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, as BLINKs continue to share their reactions to her anticipated solo comeback.
Many complimented Jennie’s red hair, saying it “will go down [in] history.”
Others were looking forward to hearing all the 15 tracks in “Ruby,” which they believe would be the “Album of the Year.”
“Be honest, you were stunned. This is f*cking immaculate,” said one fan.
“Ruby” is now available for pre-order on Jennie’s website.
