Billboard PH addresses tech issues on SB19, BINI performances

BILLBOARD Philippines celebrated its first anniversary with a concert that featured several big names in the local music scene—including P-pop sensations SB19 and BINI—but not without any technical difficulties.

The music and entertainment magazine issued a statement following the technical issues that occurred during the performances of “Kings of P-pop” and the “Nation’s Girl Group” at the “Billboard Philippines: Mainstage” concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Tuesday.

It read, “Billboard Philippines, along with BINI and SB19, are united in our commitment to celebrate the tremendous success of this historic event, which brought together 33 Filipino artists.”

“This collaboration is a testament to our dedication to promoting the vibrancy of OPM and reinforcing the message that OPM is alive,” it added.

Billboard Philippines noted that all involved parties “agreed to move forward with a positive outlook” to focus on promoting Original Pinoy Music (OPM) internationally.

What happened

In a viral clip on X (formerly Twitter), BINI—composed of Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Gwen, Maloi, Mikha, Sheena, and Stacey—had just started to sing their latest single “Cherry On Top” when the music suddenly went off.

This did not hinder the girls from continuing their performance in acapella, with their fans singing along with them.

Meanwhile, SB19—composed of Pablo, Stell, Ken, Josh, and Justin—was performing “Mana” when the audio track and the live band did not play synchronously. Several members were seen having trouble with their in-ear monitors and kept looking at each other.

The phenomenal quintet did not fail to make their fans proud, delivering an all-out performance at the concert.

Many netizens praised the two P-pop groups’ professionalism onstage despite facing technical setbacks.

SB19, on the other hand, thanked their fans for their unwavering support, assuring that they “noted and marked all the ways we can improve so we can deliver even better performances in the future.”

Star-studded event

The “Billboard Philippines: Mainstage” concert also featured performances from OPM icons like Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Sarah Geronimo, Erik Santos, KZ Tandingan, TJ Monterde, Yeng Constantino, and Moira.

P-pop groups G22, ALAMAT, KAIA, AJAA, YGIG, and VXON also performed at the event.

The lineup also included Pinoy bands Sandwich, Dilaw, Cup of Joe, and Over October.

Hip-hop stars O SIDE MAFIA, Hev Abi, Zae, Illest Morena, John Roa, PLAYERTWO, Tus Brothers, and Zae.

Singer-songwriter Maki and actor-singer James Reid also appeared at the concert.
