Alden Richards addresses Kathryn Bernardo dating rumors

“WHATEVER is happening between Kath and I, I really want it to be personal.” 

This was the statement of Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards on his dating rumors with actress Kathryn Bernardo, as fans keep on shipping the two following their consecutive appearances together.

The issue was addressed during an interview with Alden for his May magazine cover with Preview.

“The friendship never ended. Naging solid din talaga ‘yung samahan naming lahat [when we were filming]. And right now, I’m just quite overwhelmed,” Alden said.

He also mentioned how surprised he was by the reaction of netizens between him and Bernardo.

“I was actually surprised [with] how people reacted to [us],” said the Kapuso actor. “I don’t want to be the first person to say a lot of things about it, but I’m glad that it’s being received well.”

The KathDen love team could be traced back to Richards and Bernardo’s 2019 blockbuster hit movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” their first collaborative big-screen project. The romance film tells the story of two Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong who find themselves falling in love with one another as they navigate life in a foreign place.

Netizens began shipping Richards and Bernardo after the latter’s 28th birthday celebration. The two were spotted together at the surprise birthday party for the Kapamilya actress, where Richards surprised her with a bouquet of roses and a gift.

Richards was also present at Bernardo’s housewarming party last month, where a video of him watching Bernardo dance made rounds online.

This was not the first time Richards addressed the dating rumors. He was first asked by GMA’s 24 Oras about the real score between him and Bernardo as fans continue to ship them.

“Hindi lang din talaga kailangan lagi ipamalita sa social media ‘yung mga ganiyan. You know, sometimes ‘yung mga personal things that’s happening, better be personal na lang,” said the actor.

Regardless if the speculations are true or not, fans will continue to support their onscreen love team.
