ALAMAT reflects on past struggles on 4th anniversary

LIFE challenges may be tough, but they present us with opportunities for growth and make us stronger than ever.

This is the message members of the multilingual and multicultural P-pop group ALAMAT delivered to their fans at a two-day special event gig in Quezon City to celebrate their fourth anniversary in the local music industry.

Formed by Viva Artist Agency, ALAMAT officially entered the P-pop scene on February 14, 2021, with its debut track “Kbye.”

During a Q&A session at the event, members Taneo, Mo, Jao, Tomas, R-Ji, and Alas reflected on their past struggles and how these shaped them to become the rising P-pop group they are known today.

They looked back from when they were starting to build rapport with one another to discovering themselves as artists.

“Hahanapin mo talaga kung sa’n ka mag-fi-fit…pa’no ka magmo-morph para mabuo ‘yung puzzle,” Taneo said.

Jao highlighted how music became an instrument for them to connect and form a strong relationship as a group.

“Although the identity is always already there, it’s the part where we need to work together since magkakaiba-iba talaga kami ng personalities,” ALAMAT’s youngest member said. “Every time we perform, doon namin talaga nafi-feel like [we are] one.”

Meanwhile, Alas and Mo shared the lessons they learned after overcoming self-doubt and embracing vulnerability.

“Wala akong tiwala sa sarili ko, sa talent, sa skills. Minsan hindi ako naniniwala na, ‘Uy! Producer pala ako,’” Alas said. Thankfully, Mo has always been there to remind him how important he is to ALAMAT.

Mo realized that there was nothing wrong with being vulnerable. One thing that helped him embrace it was his deep conversations with his fellow members, which allowed them to open up and discover themselves more.

“Sabi ko, ‘This 2025,’ nilagay ko do’n, ‘magiging estudyante ng buhay araw-araw,’” Mo said, referring to the note he wrote in his 2025 journal.

R-Ji, on the other hand, teased an emotional Tomas and said, “Sa aming anim, siya ang pinaka mababaw ang luha.”

Tomas took the opportunity to thank every Magiliw for their continued love and support.

“Isa lang ang goal namin, makita ‘yung mga ngiti sa mukha niyo,” he said.

The anniversary gig also featured heartfelt interactions between ALAMAT and Magiliws. This included a fan project video, prepared by Magiliw Philippines, where fans delivered their messages of love and support for their “6inoos.”

It was followed by a message from their Indonesian fans, who flew to the Philippines to celebrate the milestone with ALAMAT.

The event also showcased ALAMAT’s live performances of its songs “Day and Night,” “Noli,” “Dayang,” “Sa Panaginip Na Lang,” “Champorado,” “Aswang,” “Hiraya,” and “Sa’yo Pa Rin Uuwi.”

It ended with a Hi-Touch session, where fans met and interacted closely with the P-pop idols.

Following their anniversary celebration, ALAMAT is set to perform at the CCP Open Grounds on March 15 for the Fusion Music Festival, which will also feature other well-known Original Pinoy Music (OPM) acts.
